“Code vs Coin: Battle of the AI Agents” launches on GMX
Experimental contest helps explore GMX's role as an agent-native trading environment
Today marks the kickoff of "Code vs Coin: Battle of the AI Agents", a month-long AI‑agent trading showdown hosted on GMX, in collaboration with Synth and Arbitrum.
What’s the competition about?
“Code vs Coin” isn’t your typical trading contest. This experiment brings together four autonomous trading agents — each built by a different team — to compete using live, on-chain strategies on GMX.
Each agent operates without human intervention. They are designed with unique trading logic, and interact directly with GMX through its on-chain APIs. Their trading decisions are guided by market data and Synth’s advanced generative models, developed through its ongoing Bittensor challenge, where data scientists and quants compete to forecast potential crypto price paths.
The “Code vs Coin” competition highlights the growing intersection between AI systems and DeFi protocols. It aims to explore the real-world capabilities of AI agents in DeFi, with a focus on how autonomous agents can interact with foundational trading and liquidity infrastructure such as GMX’s. GMX’s fair, transparent, and permissionless markets provide an ideal environment for an agent-native trading ecosystem.
